nonadmin

sudo Wn

Inspired by the MakeMeAdmin utility by Aaron Margosis, and WinSUDO, sudoWn allows user to launch almost any program under the users account, but with the administrator token.

It is written in .NET 2.0 and functions very much like WinSUDO, but features a much better interface and contains a few more features.

The homepage for sudoWn is located at http://sudown.sourceforge.net/

Part of the sudowin setup requires adding the non-privileged user to the sudoers group (created by the install). For XP Home I didn't know how to do that, but learned from Gabor at the sudowin site to log in under the administrator account, open a cmd window, and:

> net localgroup sudoers "YOURUSERNAME" /add

As of today, 29-12-2006, this site, http://sudown.mine.nu/, is off line and has been this way for several weeks.  Does anyone know what is going on with this site and the application/developer?

I've emailed the author and asked him about the site.

The author replied to my email. He has a new website at sourceforge. I've updated it above.
