Am I Local Admin

How to tell if you have local Administrator rights (from John Howard's blog post and comments):

  • 0 clicks: run PrivBar.
  • 1 click: right-click the Start button. If you see "Explore All Users" you're an admin.
  • 2 clicks: double-click the tray clock. If the date/time applet appears you're an admin (or you've given Users access to the applet - see How To for how to do this).
  • 3 clicks: right-click My Computer, click Properties, click Computer Name. If you see the "Change" box you're an admin.
