Welcome to nonadmin.editme.com!

This is a community site for PC users who want to run without administrator privileges (also known as least-privileged user accounts or limited-user accounts). Running as non-admin is a great way to improve your computer's security, and you don't need to buy any extra software to do it!

I've added ACL View to the useful tools section.  ACLView allows you to view and edit file system ACLs in Windows XP Home without having to boot into safe mode. It also works with other versions of Windows and contains features that the built in security tab in explorer lacks. -Paul Blair

After two people told me that Sudo for Windows was not working with AD accounts I started to think there was a problem.  Long story short, I had a local account with the same name so I did not realize this during testing.  An all-night coding session later and Sudo for Windows 0.1.1-r95 was just released.

Saturday June 24

Added page for Sudo For Windows (Sudowin).  This is easily the most advanced, secure, extensible, and easy-to-use implementation of sudo for Windows.

Tuesday January 24

I've added a page for a new tool I'm writing called WinSUDO . Updates to the Other Resources page, including two level-300 webcasts and two white papers. In particular, Applying the Principle of Least Privilege to User Accounts on Windows XP is a new white paper that is the single most authoritative source of LUA information published by Microsoft. If you're only going to read one document, read this. It's a 25-page download. - Jonathan Hardwick
